I am but that is because there is little about my past or present wothy of pride or arrogance and the fact that I have assurance of a better future if I am open to follow.

That's a wonderful ?I ask myself that all the time, for me when difficulties are ever present with conflict with others,I first assume they are the problem, then I realize I'm the one with the issue. So then I ask God to help me change, its not some magical thing that happens, but God always helps me see my problem. Its usually via a friend, something I hear,or just a realization.Often when we grew up with abuse its hard to figure life out as all you have done is survive.Often depending on your childhood you were the only one you had,so to navigate life can be very challenging. Its often times for hard to believe a hopeful future exists, that's when I can only turn to the bible for hope, the bible speaks on all subjects including how God has a future and a plan for your life. This is where my hope is,not in the circumstances, not in my past but that God who created me has most kindly etched a future for my life.If I did not have this promise,my life would be hopeless. Yes I am willing to change what I need to change to have this future.

"The real does not die, the unreal never lived.
Once you know that death happens to the body and not to you, you just watch your body falling off like a discarded garment.
The real you is timeless and beyond birth and death. The body will survive as long as it is needed."
basically, to rise above yourself, you must identify who you really are first. Discovery of oneself is all that can change the past, as it reveals who the actual doer of the deeds was...and having changed the past, the future may unfold differently than it would have otherwise.

Enemies. You need an enemy to defeat. In defeat of an enemy, you will need to become someone far better than you are now--enemies allow us to leave our "comfort zone" so that through conflict we become better than ourselves today, to defeat the enemy of tomorrow.
