I am 29 weeks pregnant so, I am getting worried. I've tried hydrocortisone and benydryl, but they didn't do anything to help. The cream actually made it looks worse. It is on my hand and spreading around my hand, fingers, and a little on my arm. It didn't itch or burn until today and now it hurts like carpet burn. I am also have a headache and nausea today, but don't know it is related. Any suggestions? My dr. can't even see me until Tuesday.

I got burned pretty badly on my last vacation and also developed a rash. I couldn't even sleep because even if the bed sheets would brush up on my skin it would sting tremendously. The burn went away in about 3 days and the rash cleared up in about 4, although I looked like a lobster for over 2 weeks after the ordeal. I don't think you should worry about this, although since you're pregnant, do see a doctor just to be on the safe side. Keep applying some sort of moisturizer/lotion to the skin and it will speed up the process. Also if you can buy there is this Aloe cooling gel specifically for sunburns, it is very effective and makes the redness and burning go down faster, it is sold in most pharmacies (GNC, Duane Reade, etc). From now on please wear a heavy sunblock (not a spray, but a lotion type) and if it's very sunny, try to find a shade to prevent this from happening. I definitely learned my lesson on this matter with my last sunburn. Good luck.

If it is from the sun the best way to stop the itching and stop it from spreading is pure ALOE VERA. Put some on your hand and let it dry, if the itching comes back keep putting it on. Also try not to sit in the sun for hours at a time when pregnant. Your skin tens to get more sensitive when your body is going through so many changes when your pregnant. I found ALOE VERA works great on anything when pregnant.

Good Luck and Congrads!

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at
