Well it's absurd to say that they don't believe in Jesus, as a historical person, they simply reject his divinity, as do many religions. Historically speaking, Jews in Christ's era, expected the promised Messiah to bring the the people of Israel back its former grandeur of King David. For this reason, they modeled the Messiah on past kings, presuming that he would be militant leader. This is apparent with the Zealot movement of the 1st century, and the attempt to overthrow the Roman rule, this insurrection was eventually squashed, with the destruction of the Temple.
Why do Jews today not believe in the divinity of Jesus? Socially speaking, many people retain the religion that they are born into. There is very little actual religious conversion, more times than not a person is likely to fall into a state of agnosticism, than convert to another religion.
The same question can be asked, why do you affirm the divinity of Christ?

The Jews rejected Jesus because He failed, in their eyes, to do what they expected their Messiah to do--destroy evil and all their enemies, in this case the Romans, and establish an eternal kingdom with Israel as the preeminent nation in the world. The prophecies in Isaiah and Psalm 22 described a suffering Messiah who would be persecuted and killed, but they chose to focus on those prophecies that discussed His glorious victories, not His crucifixion.
The commentaries in the Talmud, written before the onset of Christianity, clearly discuss the Messianic prophecies of Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 and puzzle over how these would be fulfilled with the glorious setting up of the Kingdom of the Messiah. After the Church used these prophecies to prove the claims of Christ, the Jews took the position that the prophecies did not refer to the Messiah, but to Israel or some other person.
The Jews believed that the Messiah, the prophet which Moses spoke about, would come and deliver them from Roman bondage and set up a kingdom where they would be the rulers. Two of the disciples, James and John, even asked to sit at Jesus' right and left in His Kingdom when He came into His glory. The people of Jerusalem also thought He would deliver them. They shouted praises to God for the mighty works they had seen Jesus do, and called out "Hosanna, save us" when he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey (Matthew 21:9). They treated Him like a conquering king. Then when He allowed Himself to be arrested, tried and crucified on a cursed cross, the people quit believing that He was the promised prophet. They rejected their Messiah (Matthew 27:22).

They know that Jesus existed, no questions on that score at all. They rejected Jesus as their Messiah, mainly because they believed that their (Jewish) Savior would come as a secular King and set the nation of Israel up as an all powerful kingdom. It was also prophesied numerous times that Jesus would be rejected by His own people.

Most would believe he existed, but they don't believe he is the Messiah, because he simply did not fulfill the messianic prophecies of the Jewish Bible ("Old Testament").
Furthermore, there is a lot about the whole claim that Jesus is divine that is totally counter to Judaism. Read the book of Isaiah, for example, and you'll see that over and over again, the prophets stressed that God is God ALONE, and is not a man. The New Testament contains many many irreconcilable contradictions.

1. The messiah will NOT be divine. He will be a great leader (human) and will be king of Israel when there is peace, justice, and goodness on earth for all humanity. Each and every one of us can strive to be The Messiah.
2. The sole mission of the messiah is to bring peace on earth. Have we ever had peace on earth for all humanity in the last 6,000 years?
3. We learned from the first five books of the Bible that we are not to revere human leaders and make them into gods. Moses was our greatest prophet, but we learn that even our greatest prophets are not to be made divine. We are to stay holy (separate/apart) from cultures that create gods, i.e. Egyptian pharoahs, and miscellaneous other gods of surrounding cultures.
4. We learned that human sacrifice is NEVER acceptable to God. Abraham was stopped from sacrificing Isaac.
5. Jews have followed many, many leaders whom they believed to be The messiah, but when he dies without having brought peace on earth, we realize we were wrong once again.
6. Our God forgives all humanity whenever asked. He does not limit His love to any race or ethnicity according to their "beliefs."
7. Our God condemns no human to eternal punishment -- except for the rarest most evil of the evil.
8. Our God expects us to take responsibility for our own sins. We are to apologize to those we've harmed, make amends and demonstrate that we will not sin again. Only then can we ask God's forgiveness. We have Faith that our God will treat us with Justice and Mercy without human intermediaries.
9. Our God expects MORE from His Chosen People -- not less. Being chosen means we are to live to a higher standard.

Many Jewish people believed in Jesus. Those who wrote the God inspired Bible were Jewish.
I think those who reject Yeshua the Messiah, the Son of the living God, do so, because they want a Messiah who would deliver Israel right then & there, and not save the rest of us in the world who believe in Him also.
But when the Word of God is published & preached around the world, and people from all nations are saved by the blood of the Lamb of God, then their eyes will be opened. Because the blood bought Christian love Israel (Jews) and help Israel, and lead Israel back to Yeshua Messiah.
If Israel will humble themself befor the LORD their God and repent of their wicked ways (& for their part in the crucifixion) God will heal their land.

I believe that Jesus was just a man, probably a man with noble intentions, but still only a man.
I believe only the man that dose this can be called the Messiah
Ezekiel Chapter 37 verses 24-28:
And David my servant shall be king over them; and they shall all have one shepherd. they shall also follow My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers have dwelt and they shall dwell there, they and their children, and their children's children forever; and my servant David shall be their prince forever. Moreover, I will make a covenant of peace with them, it shall be an everlasting covenant with them, which I will give them; and I will multiply them and I will set my sanctuary in the midst of them forevermore. And my tabernacle shall be with them: and I will be their G-d and they will be my people. Then the nations shall know that I am the L-rd who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary will be in the midst of them forevermore.

they believe that he existed, but wasn't the messiah. They are still waiting for the messiah.
The Jews expected the messiah to free them from the Roman rule...Jesus didn't do that, so they feel he was just another man claiming to be the son of God. Jesus wasn't the only person of the time to claim that.
