As I understand it, the purpose of Lent is to identify with Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Giving up something you don't particularly like isn't really with the program. The idea is to sacrifice something you like.

The true point of Lent is to draw you closer to Christ. Staying away from fellowship with other believers isn't a good way to accomplish that.

So the short answer to your question is "no".

You're supposed to give up something you LIKE doing -- like eating junk food or smoking or drinking. :P
