My Westie is 4 years old and I've noticed recently that his gums sometimes turn red, also his ears at the same time. I took him to my vet and he was unable to find any irritant or broken teeth in his mouth and his teeth are clean. He said it was either allergies or stress but said he would have had to be very stressed to the point that he was hyperventilating to turn his gums red. He eats Innova Evo. He flared up once when some kids were over (he was excited) but they had also given him a bit of bread so I don't know what caused it. If anyone has had a similar experience with their dog and know what it might be I would appreciate your advice.

Sometimes dogs are naturally nervous and if he was hyperventilating he gets stressed easily. Try to limit his interaction with people so he's not under so much anxiety.
