The form of his name ends in "dt" which points all fingers to German with maybe a Dutch twist. But being from the same state I would just say he is Southern ( and PROUD of it ).

I believe that his family is either Irish, German or Scottish. Dale Jr has that red hair so I'm guessing that their ancestors might be Irish as noone is for sure where he got the red hair from. I have seen pictures of Dale Jr's mother and her hair is brown...Dale Sr's hair was brown as well.

Then put ethnicity in your question instead of nationality to understand users as it refers to the person's country of origin. Based on how his surname end with "dt", he is of German descent on counts. In fact, I believe there are many NASCAR racers who are of German descent.
