Don't keep using the hydrocortisone cream. You should use it for a max of 7 days because it thins the skin. Could you be licking it more as you are aware of the dryness? The answer that recommended using canestan was on the right lines; it could be a fungal infection, in which case your gp could prescribe a cream called trimovate. Also don't over moisturise, i know it sounds daft, but it can aggrevate dry skin.

I have this problem also, and I can't use a lot of moisturizers or it clogs my pores or burns with the fragrances. My dermatologist prescribed me hydrocortisone and doxy something pills. We just have a particular dermatitis and it won't go away no matter how much Vaseline or any moisturizers we apply. That hydocortizone works but it's a steroid you don't want to over do it

dry skin is kind of permanent, you can't cure just treat and keep it under control so it doesn't bother you.
try damping it slightly with water, then vaseline (or i use elizabeth arden 8 hour cream - its good), you need to do this 2-3 times a day, especially when it is cold or very dry and everytime it gets wet, washing, swimming, brushing your teeth etc, eventually it will calm down, you must be patient, also don't scratch and make sure you are hydrated, drink plenty of water

Go back to using the stuff the doctor gave you. Nothing else will shift it. Sometimes you need antibiotics as well to keep it away - combination of infection and cold weather.

It's just chapped skin/lips. Get Cymex from your chemist, it will clear up in a couple of days.

It could be due to Stomatitis. I would suggest you to take a course of Vitamin B complex. Try, there is no harm/side effects.

This sounds odd, but try Canestan cream for a week and see if that helps. Its meant for thrush but won't hurt if it doesn't help.
