Read all of this before you consider a Toyota http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjBWXBH9.rW4w8Xffa0c8Ujty6IX?qid=20070301210328AAn8E5d
Here is Smart Moneys test of small cars http://www.smartmoney.com/autos/newcars/index.cfm?story=december2006 The Yaris lost with 2 stars, Nissan Versa third with 2.5 stars, Chevy Aveo sedan second with 3 stars, and the Honda Fit won with 3.5 stars. They dont post the scores online, you have to get the magazine. The interior of the new Aveo sedan is actually pretty nice http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070218/COL14/702180672/1015/BUSINESS01 The Aveo is a worldwide player for GM, and in many places is a mid-range car. The Fit is a little nicer, but it costs a lot more and is more expensive to fix. My dad has a 15 year old Saturn and it still runs great, even within the last year GM has made strides in quality and reliability, and its paying off.

Peteroysterdate, You couldnt be more wrong. The Corolla is on Forbes list of least safe vehicles with a rating of "Poor", and the Yaris isnt any better. The Corolla was 5/6 in Car and Drivers test of small sedans a few months agohttp://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/11873/2007-toyota-corolla-le-vs-2006-honda-civic-lx-vs-2007-hyundai-elantra-se-vs-2007-mazda-3s-touring-vs-2007-volkswagen-rabbit-vs-2007-nissan-sentra-20s.html and all the stuff in the first link applys to the Corolla too, Instead of a Corolla look at the Honda Civic and Chevy Cobalt.

Toyota Corolla is more dominant over the Toyota Yaris. Both engines are pretty weak, Yaris with 106 horsepower and Corolla with 126 horsepower. They both get about the same fuel mileage. The Corolla is a lot more roomy and has more horsepower. The Yaris has very sloppy handling. Wait till 2008, when the Corolla will get a brand new facelift and a new, more powerful engine.

I'd get the Honda Fit instead. Yaris is a reliable vehicle but it's received poor reviews for its noisy engine and high road noise at highways speeds. The Fit is a direct competitor of the Yaris and has been named the best in its class. If Fit is too expensive, I'd choose the Corolla over the Yaris.

Corolla is 90's. I'd take Yaris...better styling. Plus it looks like a mini Camry. Go for the Yaris.

If you are looking 1 person car, go for Yaris.
If you are living with your family or looking for more safety, let's go to Corolla.

TOYOTAS ARE ALL AROUND GOOD CARS THEY ARE THE BEST SELLING CARS IN AMERICA. SO EITHER OF THEM WILL BE RELLY DEPENDABLE EITHER ROUTE YOU TAKE. BUT IF I HAD TO CHOOSE I WOULD CHOOSE THE COROLLA WILL MY MOM HAS HAD ONE FOR FOUR YEARS AND NOTHING HAS GONE WRONG WITH IT.
