Many thought that Jesus would be a king to immediately throw the Romans out of the holy land and start His new kingdom. Because the physical fulfillment of the kingdom wasn't right away, they were disappointed. This may also be why Judas betrayed Jesus.

The people praised Jesus because he fulfilled the promises that their King would come riding into jerusalem and be their saviour, the problem was the people thought that they were going to be saved from the oppression of the romans. When Jesus didn't do that as a warrior king they thought they had got the wrong person. When really Jesus was going to save them from themselves.

People triumphantly praised him because they have believed that the Messiah riding in a donkey is the one predicted in the Prophet's writings. He was was not betrayed by the same people, He betrayed his people when he started showing difference from what he claimed that he came to "fulfill the law and not to abolish any of it not even the least stroke of a pen" but instead he started changing it by allowing his disciple to desecrate the observation of the Sabbath Observation and furtherly claiming to be the Lord of the Sabbath. The Old Testament implicitly declared there is only One God and Jesus claimed He is the Son of God which is really impossible to be true for the Jews because it is not the way it was written by Prophet Isaiah. Aside from that, they also expected Jesus to be like Moses who will working to set them free from Rome's rule and bring back the old glory of Israel. Jesus disappointed them in many ways.

The simple answer is that they didn't.
Because that the Jesus figure of the bible never even existed. So he couldn't have been betrayed. And couldn't have been praised as a living beeing.
This bible story and all the rest is just tales and mythologies. What they really say is of no importance. Because it doesn't matter in any particular way, anyway.

People are fickle. Jesus didn't do what they wanted Him to do. When Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, He was fulfilling a prophecy of Zechariah. They thought for sure that Jesus would ascend the throne of David, and kick the Romans out.
When Jesus preached the Gospel, and did not do as they expected, they decided He was an impostor. They wanted Him dead. They got what they wished for.

because human nature is sin... and it was thought at the time that Jesus the savior would come and be a king, saving them from the Romans. Instead he came a beggar saving them from a ruler even more great, their own sin. The people of the time where displeased, so they did as their sin nature told them to do, kill the one that was there to save them. John1:10 He was in the world and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. he came unto that which was his own and his own did not receive him. yet all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

Their fear was stronger than their love. I think if he would've been able to stay around a few more years, there would've been riots. I'm not christian, but I love Jesus. I have wondered how they could let this happen too. I would have stopped it. Even if Jesus asked me not too, I think I wouldn't have been able to stop myself. For someone that beautiful and loving to suffer like that, it hurts my heart.

Jesus sat upon between the animals, of course. yet, because of fact the *** and the colt (as mom-animal and its offspring) might desire to no longer be separated, they're dealt with as one animal linguistically. in case you have an interest in those issues and skeptical approximately God you will possibly desire to flow to church and examine the bible.

How many times has a Christian stood in Church on Sunday giving a moving testimony only to deny Christ, by his/her actions, on Tuesday.
