why the last 2 times i have worn it all day do i get a black mark exactly where the chain has been siting on my neck(so when i take chain off looks like i still have it on due to the shape of the mark).
ne ideas?

Lol this happened to me when I was running it across my mouth so I ended up with 2 black marks either side of my mouth lol.
Its because its so dirty. The best way to clean em is to get oe of those gold cleaning cloths that u can get from Argos. Theyre cheap & if u are like me, get great pleasure from seeing all the muck coming off the chain! lol :-)

Go to someplace like Walmart jewelry counter. They have cleaners that work well, you put the chain in for a while, comes out perfect. IF the gold is real. If it is fake, that is the base metal underneath staining your neck. Then DON'T clean it with any cleaner other than dishwashing liquid and water. Or you will take the gold plating off.

GOLD WHEN worn a lot is dirty so . Soak it in would you believe alcohol over a few hours and wash with washing up liquid. did you not know that the carat is the amount of gold in iron not pure cold. so 18 ct is a very hard wearing gold and 24ct etc is more gold and jewellery especially rings do not wear as well. They all get dreadfully dirty.

clean it first, soak it in vinegar if its real gold it will come up really clean. If it still leaves a mark chances are its only gold plated and its took this long for it to wear off.

If it is real gold it just needs a good clean. Great gold cleaner about now - even supermarkets sell it - no rubbing, just leave it to soak a while and then good rinse and dry.

Accumulated dirt and grime in the links - needs a good clean and polish or it may have only been gold plate and is now deteriorating

go to h samuels or whatever your local jewelry shop is and ask fir a gold jewelry cleaner after doing your chain it i should imagine you will stop getting he marks off it and it will be nice and shiny agaiin making it look nicer

sounds like oxidation, wearing it causes skins cells to get on it, causes oxidation, clean it with gold cleaner and you won't get the problem again (or at least until it needs cleaning again in a few years)

dont wear it in the shower, wash off the marks. get a new chain
