If I'm driving to brooklyn where do I park?

Am I better off taking a train? If so, whats the best station to go to if I'm coming from Long Island. Should I go to Penn Station and then take a subway or is there a better route?

theres actually alot of street parking in Brooklyn, but as other people answered, it depends on where in Brooklyn you're going. If downtown, you can get a spot in a lot for 10-20 bucks a day. But we need more specificity.

It depends on where you are headed in Brooklyn. If you are heading to Downtown Brooklyn and the area near the Marriott Hotel, then parking will be just as bad as it is in Manhattan. There are parking lots in the Marriott and in the area, but they are expensive.

If you are heading to other sections of Brooklyn that are hip (Williamsburgh, Park Slope, Ft. Greene), you will be able to find parking, but it will be tough to find a spot and you have to read the parking signs carefully. If your car is towed for illegal parking, it will be VERY expensive (upwards of $300+ for fine and tow charges) to get it back. If possible, take the subway to your destination.

To answer the addition to your question: If you are coming to Brooklyn via LIRR, change at Jamaica for the trains heading to Flatbush Avenue. This is the last stop and will leave you at Flatbush and Atlantic Avenue (current home of the Atlantic Mall, a major subway junction and future home of the NBA Nets).

From this point you will be a short bus or subway ride from Downtown Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel (If that is where you are heading). Otherwise, this junction connects to several subway lines that will take you wherever else you want to go. Use the following websites to help you to your destination.

do you really have to drive?

there are some private parking lots in the downtown brooklyn area near the bridges. quite expensive.

street parking in most neighborhoods does not require a permit, but there just aren't enough spaces to assume you'll find one anywhere near your destination.

far south brooklyn (bensonhurst, gravesend, brighton beach, etc.) has less dense housing and thus your parking odds will be better...but not by a whole lot.

From Newark you will ought to get NJ transit practice to Penn Station, new york (being conscious that there is a Penn Station in New Jersey too). as quickly as there, you could a million. Take the A practice (convey) to West 4th highway and alter to the F practice which will take you to Bergen St in Brooklyn (or journey one extra end and get off at Carroll or 2. Take the A practice to Jay St and alter to the F practice (comparable as above). i've got taken it which you're heading to Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens as unfavourable to Prospect Heights (there's a Bergen end there too). have exciting!
