I have a problem with launching steam and Half0life 2. First of all when I start the comupter it used to automatically setup steam, but now it doesn't. Even when I click the steam shortcut it does nothing and now I can't even launch anything to do with it like half-life 2, deathmatch, counter strike, anything!!! I click the icons and they wink but other than that nothing. I can't even select them from the list, they just won't lauch. I'm pretty sure it's not my firewall or anything, what do I do? I even just reinstalled Half-life 2 and it still doens't work, I reinstalled steam too!!!!!!!

it's not just the shortcut though, when I autorun the disc it brings up the game menu and when I click on 'play Half-life 2' it does absolutly nothing other than light up. I have no idea where any of the program files are, nothing is working!!!!

I think the shortcut to Steam must have gone bad. Try looking for the steam.exe file on your PC and clicking on that. If that works just make another shortcut from it on your desktop.

It's tough to say. Normally, a fresh install of steam solves the problem. But you already tried that.

Did you uninstall steam completely before you reinstalled? or did you just update it?
