You don't have to accept something you think is wrong.
I mean, you have to accept that it exists (it's not like you can just will them away by rejecting them...oh, you know what I mean.)
But if you don't agree with something, you can be civil about it without accepting it as your own belief.
I would say, focus on what these groups do well (for instance, Christians doing missionary work, Mormons doing family activities, and Scientologists helping celebrities get off drugs.)
Then, complain all you want about all the other garbage in their religions. Really, there has to be SOME reason why people are in these religions! I'm sure they have their good points (oh, I'd like to THINK they do, anyway.) So head off opponents by admitting they do X, Y, or Z right.
Then, hit them with logic. Say that though they do some things right, they do all these other things wrong, which makes their religion, on the whole, unpalatable and possibly harmful.
Approach this coolly, rationally. Don't get too emotional and don't let people trash your argument with all the wonderful things they blab about. If YOU say there are some good things, then they'll know you're prepared for an argument and they won't catch you off guard.
But gripe, for sure. Make valid complaints. You have a right!

I can help you with Scientology since I am a Scientologist
(and have been for 36 years).
But I do not know what specifics you are referring to that have upset you.
What illegal activities exactly?? This is a pretty heavy general accusation on your part. Scientology does not condone any illegal activity, nor does it allow criminals
as members.
As to discouraging medication again this is not part of Scientology. If you need medical attention for physical problems you go to a medical Dr. Why would you not take the medication he prescribed if it was needed? No one has ever prevented this in Scientology.
Scientology is against the use of recreational/illegal drugs
not medical.
Again you would have to give me some specifics.
Either way it shouldn't be a case or accept or reject without
a proper understanding of the religion in question.
The most you can say is that you do not understand. And possibly agree that you do not have enough information
to achieve some understanding. I would prefer to help you get more understanding than be concerned about whether you accept my religion or not. So since you asked to be helped, here is some factual information about Scientology:
Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say "applied" I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. It is a very practical religion.
All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosphy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on anyones faiths of beliefs in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the indivdual as pasrt of his life. It does not conflict.
You can have no specific religious beliefs and still benefit from it.
And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.
It is also not a messianic religion. This means there is no worship of messiahs in Scientology. There are no “beliefs” as such because a truth should be according to ones own observation and experience.
The dictionary definition that applies:
Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognises the existence of superhuman power or powers.
The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a "thing" you HAVE but what YOU actually are.
The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individual's understanding and awareness of himself. and lifeAnd thereby his native abilities .
When you do this the sphere and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.
How this result is achieved is the "technology" of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit. The basic religious philosophy and knowledge of Scientology is very old, going back 10,000 years at least to the Veda or Vedic Hymns from the East. L. Ron Hubbard researched and made new discoveries about the human spirit. He developed technology from these discoveries to apply to increase spiritual awareness and ability.
He completed his research before his death in 1986 and left all of his results and copyrights
to the Church of Scientology along with most of his considerable personal estate, when he died.
He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: " Scientology The Fundementals of Thought"
There are currently over 10 million Scientologists in more than 163 countries world wide. However we are a new religion, only 53 years old.
The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher developes a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.
This is just an overview.
L. Ron Hubbard explained fully the theology and technologies of Scientology in more than 500,000 pages of writings, including dozens of books and over 2,000 tape-recorded public lectures.
I hope this gives you some understanding.

--PLEASE UNDERSTAND this----you do not have to have a better acceptance of anything that does not make sense or is un-christian in concept.
--IT IS ONE thing having acceptance that people have the right to believe what they wish without being biased.
--AND ANOTHER THING about accepting a doctrine, idea that could be hurtful, otterly Non-Christian, fanatic etc. without being biased---It would act as a protection of what could be harmful.
--HERE is a text that shows how our conscience can strongly come into play in making decisions
--This being by perhaps the Romans who did not have a properly trained Christian conscience!
(Romans 2:14-15) “14 For whenever people of the nations that do not have law do by nature the things of the law, these people, although not having law, are a law to themselves. 15 They are the very ones who demonstrate the matter of the law to be written in their hearts, while their conscience is bearing witness with them and, between their own thoughts, they are being accused or even excused. . .”
--Tolerence is a Christian quality related to mildness in dealing with matters:
*** it-2 p. 399 Mildness ***
MILDNESS
A New Testament Wordbook, by William Barclay, says of the adjective pra·ys´: “In classical Greek this is a lovely word. Of things it means ‘gentle’. It is used, for instance, of a gentle breeze or a gentle voice. Of persons it means ‘mild’ or ‘gracious’. . . . There is gentleness in praus but behind the gentleness there is the strength of steel . . . It is not a spineless gentleness, a sentimental fondness, a passive quietism.” (London, 1956, pp. 103, 104) Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words states that the noun form pra·y´tes “consists not in a person’s ‘outward behaviour only; nor yet in his relations to his fellow-men; as little in his mere natural disposition. Rather it is an inwrought grace of the soul; and the exercises of it are first and chiefly towards God. It is that temper of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting; it is closely linked with the word tapeinophrosune [humility], and follows directly upon it.’”—1981, Vol. 3, pp. 55, 56.

I am a Mormon and I have a personal testimony of Christ through his spirit confirming it to me.
It is known amongst mormons that for God to reveal the truth to you it requires some effort first baptism, faith, obediance and study.
Are you doing these things?
It took me a year to get my confirmation and I know that if you remain faithfull and talk with your Bishop that you will get your testimony. You have already found the true church just keep your faith and do not doubt it.
Good luck

please emplain more clearly why you can't ccept Mormons? We do not practice polygamy anymore, so you shouldn't have any problem with living LDS members. As for our views about how the world should be, that is where my confusion comes in. We think the world should be a place of piece and humilty, where people believe in Christ and his atonement for us, and have faith in his resurrection. We do not condemn those who do not believe. I speak colelctively there, but I know as in any religion, there are members who judge others. We simply live what we know, and we try to share it with others.

Knowledge is the cure for your problem.
Study more about each of these religions.
It sounds to me like you know a tiny little bit about a couple of religions and you are basing an opinion based on that tiny bit of knowledge.
Study more.

In these difficult days and ages, Christians must continue to love each other as they love God and to love their neighbors and enemies like they love themselves.
The Jehovah's Witness who gives you the booklet and tries to awaken you must be rebuked with love rather than mere ignorance.
The Mormon must be loved regardless of faults.
The Scientologists must be loved regardless of Tom Cruise's opinions or how he keeps Katie Holmes under lock and key.
One must pray that adherents of these faiths recognize the error of their ways, repent their sins and return to worship in valid Christian denominations.

actually I used to be a Mormon, but now consider myself to be Agnostic. Mormons are not polygamists, contrary to popular belief. There are a few extremists who are but you find those in every religion. Polygamy is actually banned by the official church.

No. First of all you get born once more in THIS lifestyles, no longer the following. And no, your colour or denomination has no impact on it. Are you a real believer in Jesus as Gods son? Then are living through your religion and dont fear approximately it.

non-acceptance is a state of suffering.
You don't have to agree with something in order to accept it. I accept my drug addicted friend for who he is...even though I don't find his actions to be harmless to himself or others.
Sometimes people have to just crawl through the mud in order to get to dry land...and it doesn't help anyone to not accept the mud.
Just appreciate that everyone's doing the best they can with the understanding that they have, and acceptance will cease to be an issue.
