Inexpensive accommodations in Puerto Rico?

Looking for downright cheap accomodations in Puerto Rico. I figure the less I spend on accomodations, the longer I can afford to stay. Traveling with 14 year old son. Would be fine with a tiny cabana on the beach. Nothing fancy needed. Would like to travel around the island and stay in a few different places. Please help!

Forget about motels...they are not even close to the beach and that's where locals go to do dirty business...

Anyway...back to your question your best bet will be the guest houses or small inns in Isla Verde area.

1. Numero Uno Guest House around $80 per night

On the west area I recommend Lazy Parrot Inn. On the east Club Seaborne in Culebra, and in the south Hotel Melia.

For sure you don't want to stay in motels in PR they are not like the ones in the states, they are usually used for one night stands. You can stay in of the Paradores(family owned inns) they usually have good rates it will depend on when are you going to PR you can check them out at www.gotoparadores.com. Good Luck

Motels are the cheapest accommodations. They are $25.00 for 8-9 hrs. sleep. You can find many motels through out PR especially roads # 2 and 1.
