I've noticed that some people lean way to the right when they drive, like they're resting on an armrest. Sometimes, they even look like they're lying down while driving. Why do they DO this? Is it supposed to look cool? Is it comfortable? It looks REALLY stupid and seems dangerous, like they couldn't respond quickly enough if something happened right in front of them. They're almost always young drivers, too. Whenever I see them in my rearview mirror, I get the hell away from them. WHAT IS THE DEAL??

I've seen that, too. I've also seen drivers with their seatbacks set so far back it almost looks like they're in a recliner. It's always been younger drivers I've seen do this, too. They probably think it makes them look cool behind the wheel, but it's just plain dangerous. If they get into an accident, no seatbelt will hold them in a seat like that. They'll slide right out from under it.

I was behind someone today and I thought the car was just sitting- I could not see anyone in the drivers seat. I have no idea why, perhaps comfort?? It does seem dangerous because of response being delayed not being able to see. I was always told when growing up to "sit up straight" In chairs and on furniture- I took it with me to the car!!!

You pretty much answered you own question in the question. It's mostly teenagers or younger adults and most think because it's cool to drive with the front seat half into the back seat. I personally don't know how they can see to drive or even be comfortable because it is certainly uncomfortable for me!

On my way home, I looked over and saw 2 blondes in the front seat. The driver was reclined all the way back and was listening to her iPod while text messaging her friend next to her. Ever wonder why people get into accidents?

They call that laying slick. They think driving is a game and they are so cool. They don't realize or care that they are driving a 4-5000lb lethal weapon.
But that's what some people do.
