Faith is illogical.

As a schizophrenic I have to be extra careful not to do or believe in something illogical.

Therefore, I am in a horrible dilemma:

Choose illogical faith---->possibly be sane and holy for the other part of eternity

Stand on gaurd against illogic----> Be sane in this life and not a threat to human beings

I have to choose between doing the will of a God I cannot see or protecting the humans that are already a part of my life.

Did Jesus have my dilemma in mind when he was sweating blood in the garden? I wonder.

How can you believe?....don't. Religious faith is based on someones opinion. The laws we already follow because our actual LAW BOOKS tell us we must are sufficient. It is better to have a good idea about how things should be, then to have a belief system. Belief systems get people killed. In my opinion, religious faith is something for someone to cling to when the can not think freely and examine the truth before them for themselves.

Find what does make sense to you. If you are uncertain whether or not a god does or does not exist (because of lack of logical proof) then stand on that. Even within the issues you have, you have a concept of what's right and wrong.

I choose to believe that there is a being greater than I am. There are too many things around me that can not be explained to my satisfaction. However, I do not claim any religious docterine. I choose to not polute the earth around me because it causes harm to all and takes away from the beauty of nature. I choose to treat those around me with love and respect, for as long as they deserve that out of me. I choose to not hate because someone think's differently than I do. I will protect those I love to my dying breath, simply because I love them.

The problem with today's society isn't NOT having faith (religious or otherwise) it's the extremes to which most people take that faith.

In considering your choices remember one very important thing, NO ONE ELSE but man kind created the seperate religions all based on the fact that they didn't like what somoene else was trying to tell them about a god (diety) that THEY COULDN'T EVEN SEE or know existed for sure.

Good luck in your searching for the answer that is best for YOU. It is worth the time to be comfortable with what you believe instead of ever wondering if its the EXACT right way to believe.

Ask yourself this question, this very LOGICAL question: Would you blindly follow someone who tells you "You need to go out and collect 300 pine cones for me every day. If you don't do this then you don't love me and I will throw you into a burning pit of tar if you don't. Now, you have to do this until the day you die. On that day, I will tell you whether or not you did enough for me. If I don't think you did, well you're still gonna get the pit. And oh, by the way, if you see others NOT collecting pine cones for me, you're to tell them that pit of tar is their fate!!

Yes, He did have your dilemma in mind. He loves us all equally and very much. If you want to be a Christian (first of all, if you believe in God, then you are Christian) but want logic, I suggest you try the Seventh-day Adventist church. All their stuff is completely Bible-based. Some think that they think of Ellen White as equal or greater than the Bible, but they don't. They put the Bible over her any day! Besides, in regards to where you said "doing the will of a God I cannot see or protecting the humans that are already a part of my life" I don't understand why you couldn't do both. And, (if you want to look at it this way), if you believe in God (as I do) but He turns out to be just some figment of your imagination, what have you to lose? and if He's real (which I really truly believe He is) then you will receive an eternal life of happiness with those you love and nothing bad will happen. Don't sweat it. Feel free to email me if you're still concerned. : ) I'll try to help you as much as I can.

logic is not the predeterminant of sanity or insanity. logic is only the measurment of events and situations based on others recording of similar happenings.

By using the logic principal, I could, in about five minutes, have you question your own existence.

My father is a paranoid schizophrenic manic depressive. When he is not chemically balanced he will hold conversations with the devil. Real or imanginary I can not say but I can say the end result is the same. My dad becomes dangerous, violent and unremorseful. How does that differ from me talking to Christ/God. I become peaceful, helpful, joyful, caring, loving and edifying.

From a value of life as the precursor to socital functionality and determination of sane and mentally/emotionally healthy. Belief and practicing a religion based on love and peace such as Christanity or Budhism will actually help your condition.

Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all things shall be added to you! Get on your knees and worship GOD almighty right now-and ask for deliverance. Only in the name of Jesus can you be healed. And only through the Spirit of God-Jesus named the Spirit-the "Spirit of truth."
Faith is the only weapon you need. Even scientists have "faith" that their theories are correct. Worship the Creator, instead of creation. God is the God of science and logic. Faith is being sure of what you hope for & knowing what you do not see. You need prayer and I am praying that you will be led to a church very soon and are surrounded by people who can pray with you.
The only logic you need to know is that Jesus came to earth, died for you, conquered death and is preparing a place for your eternity. You are going somewhere for eternity, it is up to you where that will be. That is how much God loves you..he gave you the choice!!! Praise God!!

Faith comes by hearing & hearing a word about God / Christ.

You just need to listen to the Word of God preached. Or hear yourself read the book of John out loud. Read John 3.

That would be a Christian foundation, Jesus Christ the Lord, Son of the Living God is the Rock foundation.

Jesus is the Word of God. Word in Greek is Logos. He Is the logic of God.

If you would move in the faith God gives you when you hear & hear Gods Truth, then confess Jesus Christ your Lord & Savior & believe in your heart He shed His own blood for your sins & raised from the dead, you will be saved (everlasting life).

Yes Jesus had you in mind when He sweat blood in the garden and on the cross. He said, "Drink this fruit of the vine, this is my blood that is shed for the remission of sins for many...".

Once you are born of His spirit, then you will see the Kingdom of God. Your spiritual eyes will be open. Jesus said that we cannot see the Kingdom of God unless we are born again. Born of His Spirit, cleansed by His blood, joint heirs with Jesus, part of the family of God.

Jesus wants you to be completely healed. I had a 1 yr breakdown where some called me schizophrenic, but God healed me 100%. I never gave up on finding God. It was sooo difficult with all the non stop mental confusing chatter. My mind raced faster than I could keep up with. Someone came into my life directing me to where God healed me. So, God ended that 1 yr breakdown. That was years ago. Yes. Voices that contradict the word of God would be idols in ones life. God allows us to see/ learn that the hard way sometimes. So, if one talks to the devil, then the devil is an idol in that persons life.

Zeek,

I have been a psych nurse for many years. I have had some ask if I believe that God actually talked to them. My answer was that I can not tell them yes or no but I could assure them that if God did indeed talk to them He would not say anything that contradicted the Bible.

You are wise my friend to question and to be careful because we know satan often comes as an angel of light but again, this one would most likely tell you things that do conflict with the Bible.

I do not see a problem with chosing between God and protecting those in your life now. GOD would not wish harm to come to any of them

As far as faith goes, the Bible says that the wisdom of man is foolishness to Him and His wisdom is foolishness to man. One has only to look at many of the replies and yes...to this very question to see this.

For God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a SOUND MIND.
