I started taking Effexor XR 112mg in early February. Is there any connection with food allergies and this medication, can this drug aggravate allergies? Since I began taking it, I have found two foods that I am severely allergic to that I have been eating almost my entire life. Refried beans from a can and home-made (not from Mexican restaurants though) and canned tuna fish, is there a connection here, both being canned? Should I go see an allergist or wil they just test me for common allergies like peanuts, pollen and dander? I'm not allergic to anything else that I know of, except shellfish, but I've known that for years and can control that easily.

I can't see how this medication would cause food allergies. I think it would be a good idea to see an allergist because there may be some underlying conditions that are causing you to react to the foods you mentioned.
