Blow people's bodies into millions of pieces, can't see your family, fighting without a cause. You could learn more by watching the iraq war videos in youtube. You can see what its really like to be in it because the soldiers video record everything (dead bodies and attacks). Its pretty scary for them.

You get to see things that most never will, good and bad. I personally enjoyed it, but where I was, we weren't getting attacked everyday and the constant explosions we heard were those from EOD (Explosives Ordinance Dept)/ our guys blowing up bombs that hadn't detonated. You work long hours, don't get much sleep, eat the same food everyday. It's very hot, you get 5 min. showers, our AC went out all the time at like 1 pm once a week when it's 132 degrees out. That mud is like clay that just sticks to the bottom of your boots. You make good friends though. I would go back overseas anyday to defend my country, but I don't think we should be there anymore/still, at least not in Iraq. We are only making it worse and sending more and more troops home injured or dead and making more and more families lose, brothers sisters fathers mothers sons and daughters and this war is not worth it. OIL is not a good reason to be there.

I went back in 03 for 15 months. First of all its dangerous, we were hit by mortar rockets every night. At least 6 or 7,one time we were hit by 12 in one night. Roadside bombs, small arms fire, friendly fire. I heard constant gun fire especially on Friday nights because Iraqis celebrate by shooting in the air and usually someone is getting married on Friday night. You see blown up cars or cars riddled with bullet holes all the time. some kids throw rocks at our convoys some wave and run along with us as we pass. you see people riding in donkey carts, large dead animals on the side of the road like donkeys, huge trash collection points that's dumped along the side of the road, raw sewage in the streets phone call were $2.00 per min then dropped to 40 cent dust storms that blow dirt and trash everywhere, mud that sticks to you like glue. Extreme heat 125 to 130+ during the summer, Winters feel cold but really are not. long working hours. Same food over and over bottled water, very tight leaving areas. Reckless driving. Kool-Aid, Ramen Noodles, Dinty Moore, Cookies, were good things to get from home. Believe it or not there were good times too and the best feeling is making it back and seeing the people in the air port give you a standing ovation when you get off the plane back at home too much to explain i could go on for days

You can't really expect an answer for that. Words can't describe it. I was there for 1 yr for my 1st tour and 6 months on my 2nd.
