i keep getting blocked in when i park my car on the street infront of my house, people from across the street have friends over all of the time and they choose to park in front of my house, witch i don't really mind. but, they park in front of and behind me litterally blocking me in, i mean i have only 1 maybe 2 inches in front and in behind. there are no yellow markers.... what can i do? can i have one of these guys towed? i gotta work in the morning and the drunks across the street passed out and it takes about 45 min to wake them up knocking on the door and finaly move one of their cars. i have been late for work 3 times because of this. i have to get up even earlier now just to see if im blocked in again. question is, are they are doing anything illeagal?, can i have them towed?, what can i do?

I think you have been more than fair you've talked to your neighbours about this reaccuring problem I assume. If you call atow truck you are the one that will be charged with the towing bill, So you dont want to do that . What you want to do is call you municipal bylaw inforcer They will come and tow the truck away and who ever owns the vehicle will be the one to pay the bill! Hope this works for you, It happened to me once along time ago!

I would go with the route of diplomacy first... Contacting the city would be a good second option, but be careful in how you have the offending vehicle(s) towed as they may report them stolen upon awakening. It sounds like you've been extremely reasonable up to this point in the matter, find out also if there is a "residents only" parking statute for your neighborhood, and turn things over to the Police. Unfortunately, it sounds as if they are within the confines of the law, and too close to the confines of your parking space.

Dude, just go and talk to the f#@*ers and tell them your situation, and ask that they not do it anymore. If it doesn't stop, THEN, it's on. But I'm not sure how parking on a public street works as far as towing. I mean, what if the guy that parked behind you parked close, but there was enough room for you to get out. Then the guy in front leaves, some douche bag comes and parks close, and you get the guy in back of you towed. It wasn't his fault, right? I'd go with talking with them first. Good Luck!!!

if its a public street the answer is no, i can legally drive a 40 footer and park it right across your driveway as long as there are no single or double yellow line or other prohibitive signs. you cant put anything down like cones however if you have to pay for on street parking you can take it up with the council.

where i live a hospital is adjacent to my house. hospital visitors think nothing of parking right in front of my house, when my missus comes home she cant even park because people are too lazy or tight fisted to use a car park. we pay rates but that doesnt guarantee the right to park outside our own house.

No, you can't since it's on public right of way, but the police can. Call them, show them you are blocked in and can't get out to go to work and let them call out the tow truck.

If you move it, it is classed as stealing, IE taking a vehicle with out consent. If they are drunk when parking there then they are breaking the law.
Call the Police.

sue the sh-- head for loss of earnings. small claims court.

Don't know the legality but that is really really annoying. Can you not explain to them about this and ask them not to do it? If I have visitors I get them to move their car if I think it will annoy my neighbours. Some people are very inconsiderate.

best option is put either a polite notice on their windscreens explaining the space and difficulty your having or a sign in your window stating you need room to manoeuvre last resort fit nudge bars front and rear and ram your way out

Do you know the number to your local law enforcement?

They will be happy to give you your options. Give them a call. Don't wait until it happens again. Let them know the situation. Maybe there is something you can do, maybe not.

Good luck.

Never start a war with someone who knows where you live. Try having the P/D ticket them.
