I already took the test and all that stuff, I just need the license. Can you get your license then register for your insurance? Or is it vice versa?

in Texas and i think most states you don't. Generally you don't have insurance yet because you aren't driving. If you do have a form of insurance then it is sort of like a temoray thing you or your parents probably got when you got your permit. But no they generally don't ask for it. however i have heard of some states now trying to pass a law saying that once you have your license when you renew it you have to show insurance but that is too make sure that there are insured drivers on the road.

generally if you call the DMV they will be able to tell you what they require for you to get your license.

The licence and automobile registration / plates are 2 completely distinctive issues, that's why you have 60 days for one and 30 days for the different. you're able to have a licence devoid of possessing a automobile, and you will own a automobile devoid of being licenced tocontinual it. on your case, good judgment dictates which you do all of it interior 30 days of shifting. if your plates and coverage are not valid after 30 days, having a licence it remains valid will not assist you once you're stopped via the police or in contact in an twist of fate. quicker is often extra advantageous than later with those products. a number of human beings locate that out the confusing way, usually whilst they have been in an twist of fate and attempt to make an coverage declare after the time cut back. don't be a variety of persons.

I didn't have to have insurance before I got my drivers license. Most 16 year olds don't have cars so how would they have insurance. You don't necessarily have to have a car to have a drivers license right?

You don't even have to own a car to get a license. They won't ask for proof of insurance.
