It does. The problems are that science keeps finding things that disagree with old religious texts and that causes a problem with religion. It fits with a philosophy that is willing to change based on evidence perfectly.

I agree completely with the Great Gazoo. Science and Philosophy do go hand in hand. It is rigid Religion that does not adapt to new evidence that is out of step with Science and Philosophy.

Science does not always ask why. It pretty much tells us how it is or might be. Philosophy asks why and hopes to find the right answer.

They can and should! Have you heard of Skepticism, Secular Humanism, or the Scientific Method?
Science needs a system of positive ethics in order to help humankind survive and improve our world. That's what the Manhattan Project taught us.
