For conscious beings, the world is filtered through our senses. The body's cells shoot information up the nerves and form sensations in the brain. The body is an organic approximation of the Matrix, but unlike the film our world is real and verifiable.
Still, our senses are not always accurate. People make out patterns in otherwise random events. Some claim to see bikini girls in clouds, while others see the Virgin Mary in a grilled cheese sandwich. Some are color-blind and few humans see, smell, or taste things as clearly as other mammalian or bird species.
Science helps to distinguish what we think is real and what is make believe. It also shows human beings what we cannot directly sense, such as infrared light.
So the world physically exists, but our senses are merely an approximation of it and not always accurate. The "Matrix" part is in ourselves :-)

Existing physically or holographic phenomenon in the consciousness or dreams, what is the difference? Any answer you pick simply amplifies the relevance of the other. Can you prove that your physical world is not the dream while the dream world is the real thing? How are you sure you will not wake up soon to realize that what you thought was the physical world was in fact in your dream?
The truth is that the physical and other existence (by whatever definition) are two sides of the same coin.

Hm, another philosophical person influenced by the movies. Think of this (if you don't want to run head-long into a wall) - If we live on the Earth, and the Earth was supposedly created by god, if neither us or the Earth were real, then would we be nothing but characters in the mind of god, like characters originated from the mind's of writers?
The world does exist, but I could suggest you ask Stephen Hawking to look into that for you, he could be the smartest person alive, but he is the most unintelligent for trying (and failed) at proving the existence of any god.

The world does exist physically. Genesis 1:1 clearly tells us "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

There is absolutely no way of telling is there. I have a friend who is convinced that we are in the Matrix. It doesn't matter actually as this is the only reality we know. The problem would be if what was actually outside was worse!

The world does exist physically, but the only perception we can possibly have of it is in our brains. If you are in doubt, put your head down and run, full-speed, into a nearby wall.

What if life is just someone else's dream and when that person wakes up, we'll no longer exist...
