All the big cities have equal problems with drink and drugs. Not just manchester, but how about london, liverpool, bristol, glasgow...........................

Well, there was a programme on channel 4 a few months ago about the worst places to live and number 1 was Hackney. I know it doesn't necessarily mean its the worst place for drugs but it's a good indication!

Why do you want to know,are you conducting a research project?
Let's be honest here drink/drugs are a problem wherever you live whether its a city/town/village - researchers are frequently telling us which place is the worst but we can all think of places that are awful! Inverness is not exactly great for either drink or drugs! but we have the Loch Ness Monster!!!!!

2) Newcastle (the pub capital of europe)

According to official statistics my home (Hull) has the worst drink problem and Glasgow is the worst city for drug use per capita!!!

Bristol is pretty bad - tons of drugs, homelessness and drunkards! I think most cities in the UK are the same.

I thinks its all over but Blackpool is getting really bad, they come here because they think its great then they end up on drugs then drink

Strathclyde, followed by Northern Ireland (urban areas), then Liverpool and, in fourh position (only just) Newcastle and the surrounding area.
