I have a hard top too so I know that helps, but I was just wondering if I should get some kind of stuff - like you do for tents & stuff that you want to weatherize & keep from dry rotting.

Soft tops ain't cheap! The best way to preserve your top is to clean it thoroughly and then apply a protectant such as "303" Protectant. Do not use Armor-All. "303" is a much better product for this as it does not contain silicone or petroleum distillates which can harm the top. Then apply a silicone spray to the zippers taking care to keep the silicone spray off the fabric. When cleaning the clear panels, always use copious amounts of water and NEVER wipe with a dry or merely damp rag. Finally, only raise and lower the top in temps above 45 degrees. The tops are very stiff and the clear plastic is quite brittle at temps below 45 degrees. Hope this helps!

I use Convertable Top Cleaner. It also makes it look alittle darker when your done. I have heard the average life span for the Converatble top material is 5 years, I think The price to replace it(material only) may be around $125-$200. So that isnt too awful. I also use that plastic window polish too, I about wet myself looking through my back window after two years of not using anything..

Good luck

Don't leave it out in a hailstorm. I found out the hard way and now have little slits all over. I had my 1964 Olds top replaced in '87, and it is still money...I haven't conditioned it with anything. I'd be curious to know what you use though....maybe get 20 more years out of it!
