Go to www.traveline.org.uk and use journey planner (I wish I'd got a £ for every time I've typed that.....)
I suspect your journey would involve train to Elstree and Borehamwood station and then a 107 bus. This doesn't quite go all the way to Stanmore, but will drop you at Canons Corner which is a short walk or bus ride from Stanmore.
