How to donate Rs 1L to village?

I want to donate Rs. 1Lakh to my village. What is the best way for this donation?

I'm NRI and the village is in Uttarakhand.

you can possible route it through your panchayat or gram sabha. they can even give u a receipt that may be tax deductible. check through your relatives there the details of the punchayat.

your idea is most welcome and I am extremely happy that there still people caring for rural people.

PLEASE KINDLYN visit the village of your chice or that which needs help badly with some of your good friends.
Do not include any political friends or persons in your group.
If you know any organisation in your area that is really doing service to the needy, take their help.BUT BE PERSONALLY INVOLVED AND DO NOT DONATE IT TO ANY VILLAGE THROUGH GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES,OR DO NOT GIVE IT ANY PUNCHAYATH MEMBER.yOUR MONEY VANISHES WITHOUT YIELDING ANY RESULTS.

Please make a list of the basic and urgent needs in the village.Separate the items that can be completed within your donation.
now a days with Rs one lakh there are works that could be done , though they are not major, but very important to the public there.
you can see these items(this is not complete,you can decide yourself after visiting)

1.they should have good connecting road to main highway, for reaching any town in case of emergencies or for other acrivities.
2. IF THEY DO NOT HAVE DRINKING WATER , IF THE WATER TABLE IS GOOD YOU CAN PROVIDE THEM 5 OR 6 BORE WELL POINTS AT STRATEGIC LOCATIONS.

7. IF THERE IS NO PROPER SHELTER FOR SCHOOL THERE, YOU CAN SEE THAT TWO OR THREE ROOMS ARE CONSTRUCTED AND MINIMUM FURNITURE ARRANGED.SMALL ITEMS LIKE FOOTBALLS, CARROM BOARDS ,CHESS ETC MAY BE PROVIDED.
8.iF THERE IS NO DRAINAGE AND THE INTERIOR ROADS ARE BAD , THE ROADS MAY BE LAID ,BITUMEN TOPPED AND GOOD DRAINAGE ARRANGED.
9.SOME 500 OR 1000 SAPPLINGS,PLANTS MAY BE TAKEN ,THEY GIVE IT FREE, AND ARRANGED TO BE PLANTED IN VILLAGE AND VILLAGERS EDUCATED TO LOOK AFTER THEM FOR ATLEAST 3 TO 4 YEARS.
10.IF THERE IS NO ELECTRICITY , THE AMOUNT TO BE PAID TO DEPARTMENT MAY BE PAID AND THE VILLAGERS ASKED TO DO SRAMA DAAN TO GET THE POLES ERECTED AND WIRES DRAWN, AND STREET LIGHTS FIXED.

I think this way you can prioritise the items and .But see that you or your trusted agent or friend with punchayath permission, please carry out the work.Dont simply donate.It you do so, that is give a cheque to the surpanch etc, you can aswell forget that you have donated.

This is good thought. I would advice you NOT to contact political channels or any Govt funded orphanage etc... your money will become invisible in no time

Check if there are any true NGO's in your village.. Use that route... Or ask your villagers to pool money and do some work (build a school or buy a bus on loan) for 1L and then you repay them

Your donation will be eaten away. Best way is to prepare a list of poor and needy families and personally give it to them. You can not improve the village infrastructure with 1 lac.

Treat India as your village and donate to the most needy. To me the most needy people in India are the innocent, orphaned and abandoned or lost children who hide their existence in the madding crowed of Indian Railways Platforms. They are as lovely as our own children. They are born with inherent right of food, clothing, shelter, education and dignity of life, whereas their life is not protected. I watch their plight as a weak and passive spectator.

Donate books, excercise books, Computer with internet etc. so that children can get knowledge from world. I am self made due to eduction in childhood.
