Last night we had dinner at 5pm. My husband and I had the exact same thing: General Tso's Chicken, white rice. I felt a little sick last night, like heartburn, so I took TUMS before I went to bed.
I woke up this morning sicker than I have ever been in my life. I had harsh forceful vomiting that was identifiable as what I ate last night. Shouldn't that food have been gone after 14 hours? You could even identify grains of rice.
I have been having really bad stomach cramps. My temp about an hour ago was 101.5....my husband wants to take me to the ER but I don't want to go. The local hospital is not the most relaible one out there and I don't want to expose myself to any more pathogens to bring home to my famly.
Anyone one have any ideas on what the heck is going on with me?
Mainly why my food was still with me 14 hours later. My husband has not had ANY syptoms, I have been perfectly healthy before this.
Please do not say "call your doctor." She is closed Sundays.

I have noticed the fact that sometimes when you get sick the food has not digested and I'm wondering if maybe there is a good reason. I am with you when you say you don't want to go to ER, I think I would wait maybe another day or 2 then if not much improved, go to the doctor. If you start having diarrhea with the vomiting, be careful not to get dehydrated. But I think you will be fine in a day or two. Take Care

Just so you know, even though doctor's are closed, most have answering services hooked up to their office phone and ring up whoever is on call, and they call you back.
The fever is what you should be considering more than vomiting up undigested food. Cause one episode of unidgested food vomit wouldn't be as much of a concern if you didn't have a fever. If you were having pain, specially in the right upper abdomen, you might want to thing gallbladder problems. It doesn't matter if your husband is OK and you're not. You could have food poisoning. All it takes is a speck of contamination on food to make one person ill and the other not. If it continues, and you feel like you are dehyrated, you might want to re=consider the ER. They could hook you up to IV"s and give you a script for antibiotics, if they think it's food related illness. If it is, you should be experiencing some diarrhea also. The big thing is to control your temp, take in lots of clear liquids, like gatorage, h2o, juice, jello, popsicles. If you can't get enough liquid in, that's the time to seek ER. Cause if you are too low on fluids, thats when your other organs run into trouble, like kidneys shutting down. Hope you feel better soon

If you dont want to go to the ER find an urgent care center in your local area, it does not sound like food poisoning because your husband ate the same thing and did not get sick, also since you have a fever it is some sort of virus or bacteria. It could be the stomach flu, im not sure why your food would not have been at least partially digested. But you should go and get it checked out, the good thing about urgent care centers is that they are more equiped then a regular doctors office and also they move faster then an ER. Good luck to you i hope that you feel better.

Yeah, you need to go to the ER, or call the doctor's office to speak with the doctor on call. It could be many things including food poisoning, intestinal blockage, flu or some other infection as you have a fever. If you are not able to hold down fluids you may need IV fluids at the hospital. Funny that you would eat Chinese food from a restaurant but not go to a hospital for fear of germs. Kitchens are notoriously filthy. I've gotten food poisoning from Chinese food 3 TIMES! If you go to the ER, keep your hands away from your face, mouth and eyes and wash them before you eat/toilet or do anything else to prevent flu/colds.

That is very strange. You must have some stomach virus...that would explain why the food was not digested properly..or at all.. I don't think it's an emergency situation...but best thing to do is just wait it out until tomorrow. If you don't think you can...go in first thing tomorrow.

You should be seen. It might be food poisoning. The other thing I am wondering is could you have a hiatal hernia? I had a huge one and threw up broccoli I ate 3 days earlier! But I had severe chest pain/heartburn.
The fever is a concern too. Makes me think salmonella. My husband was sicker than I had ever seen him with it. Fever, vomiting, too weak to stand up.
Please call at least your doctor's answering service!
