Lately, I have been having horrible encounters with men. After being with them for a certain amount of time, I see the true them come out. I have met the cheap, cocky, dominant, jealous, and all were rude and disrespectful to me as a woman. But the weirdest thing is they dont start off like that, its always later in the relationship when its all revealed, which is better now than later down the road. All the relationships last no more than 4mths at a time lately, because I find all that out and move on. I would like to meet someone one who is decent and eventually marry, but by the way things are going, it just doesn't look promising. I am perplexed by the whole thing. What are your views on this issue?

I am that kind of guy, but for girls that's not attractive for some reason.

Being a man myself, of course I would love to think that there is an abundance of men that treat women (and other men for that matter) with respect and true concern for others. I too have met many people that start out one way and show their true colors at a later date. It usually takes a while to determine whether or not they fall into the "respect others" category. Personally, I treat others with the respect I feel I deserve--that old "do unto others thing". If they respond in kind the relationship developes. If not I might continue the relationship (continuing to treat them the same), just not expecting the same in return. The key, I think, is not allowing those lowered expectations to affect me and the way I treat anyone else. Like attracts like. Be the kind of person you want to have a relationship with, and you will attract someone with the same core values. Do not question whether "this is the ONE", just keep being who you are and the right one will come along.

The issue is our society and the disrespect people have for one another in general - it seems more prominent between men and women because that's where a lot of our focus is. Truely, the people I run into every day I see a lot of "me, me, me" stuff going on. I wish I could understand and tell you what's happening to humanity - it's becoming very scary. Be careful who you get into these relationships with - nobody takes much of anything very seriously anymore - perhaps it has to do with our poor economy, the war, trying too hard to a dream that's too hard to reach.......it's really anyone's guess.

I felt like you numerous times and wanted to call it quits on guys and stay single forever. But then I met a great guy who's everything I want. That old saying you have to kiss alot of frogs before you find your prince is true. Your gonna encounter alot of jerks but then one day when you least expect it your prince will come along. Keep the faith you'll see.

Because a guy will say anything you want to hear. The key may be for you to try and be outgoing and start talking and getting to know a guy...rather than going for only the guys that come cat calling for you.
