I would just ask him or her nicely. Just be like I really liked the Thank You card, I had a little question could you please tell me what the 411 is? Is it some type of refrence to the bible call me silly I just wanted to educate myself. Remember there are no stupid questions in life, and they might be impressed that you liked the card so much you asked. Good luck!

This is the number of people he has sent Thank you cards to for doing him favors. So, you have joined his special group. He thinks all of these folks represent the rewards for his services or sacrifices.
He also is testing you to see if you will do the appropriate thing and ask him what the 411 means!

411 is the number to call for directory assistance. It's often used as slang word for information: "Hey girl, what's the 411?" Look at the context of it, what did he put around it?

In the US 411=information, maybe he was saying for your information these are our names.
