I like this guy who likes me back. The only thing that worries me is the 3 year age difference (I'm 15 and he's 18). I live in New Jersey.

I think at such a young age (I'm 16, and yes, I consider myself young), it makes things kind of difficult, especially with the distance. However, I don't think you should give up on it. Once you guys get a bit older, the age difference will mean nothing and seem much less, and you'll be mature enough to keep in contact and find ways to spend time together.

At 15 yes it is a big difference. It can work however my daughter was 15 when she met her boyfriend and he was 18. They are very close and in time may end up together but they both need to make sure. It is a very young age and with him being 18 his life is in a different place. If you can remain friends with him yet both of you keep your options open when you get older the 3 years will not be an issue. That is what they are doing and at times it is not easy and sometimes painful. Best of luck and don't try to grow up to fast.

It is illegal to be with someone who is 18 and your 15. If I were you I think it would be ok to date him, just on the down low. Oh and no sexual relationship. If your parents find out it is rape. So just be careful.

Or you dont date him, because your young and this guy is starting his new life with college and stuff. You can probbaly find someone better. My best friend is going through the same situation. Only you can make the right choice.

Best of Luck

If you're just hanging out and not getting physical, who cares? Trouble is, you're a minor and he's a legal adult. Doesn't matter how mature you are, legally, he can date you but he cannot have sex with you (don't know if you have interest in it but I'd advise against it).

Three years at that age can be pretty significant so please, exercise caution when approaching this. I'd advise you to have a friendship with him and see what happens instead of being concerned about getting into a relationship.

well in your case because you're not 16 yet it can become an issue of possible statutory rape (if you have crazy parents). 16 is the age of consent. personally i don't think it's a lot. as long as you both have respect for each other and enjoy the company hooray. keep at it.

as far as you living in Jersey i can't help you. i live in NY ;p

depends on how mature you are i guess. my sister just married this dude she's been dating for about 4 or 5 years. when they started dating my sister was 15 and he was 21. the age difference was a little trouble for them at times but they were both mature enough to work through it.

don't listen to anyone but your intuition on this one. there are no standards, just your way of thinking
if you think it is a lot, then it is. if you think it's ok... then go for it
just a little bit of info: my boyfriend and i started seeing each other when i was 16 and he was 23. and after all these years, we're still going strong... and the thing we've got is more than any of those women who say that age counts are ever going to get :D
so, standardize that :D

If it's okay with the law in your state go for it!
once your are in love with him and he love you back its aright.
3 years is'nt a big difference imagine this when you are 20 he's 23 not a big difference after all!

No because if you like the guy then age is just a number so dont worry about it. Go with what your heart says to you. Listen to your heart
