The nature of how you "address" your Higher Power is up to you ! Allah,Yh'Wh,God,Jehovah,LORD, etc. are all accepted terms. That would not necessairily turn you into an atheist. An Agnostic maybe, but I doubt it. Most people I know address Him as Lord,Heavenly Father,or God. I hope you find your inner peace !! It can be a real tough struggle !!

IF you mean you have just converted to being a believer in God, there are all kinds of ways He likes to be addressed in prayer. Start with 'Lord' or 'Father.' I'm going to treat your question seriously, whether you meant it that way or not, and recommend that you do a study on the Names of God. It's really fascinating. You can Google that to get started.

find someone that you feel comfortable with to talk this out. if that doesn't work find another. you are not an atheist if you have an expectation that there is a reality of a God. i hope you find peace with this. i am a Christian and i have no question of a living God. i hope one day you can experience the wonder of this feeling.

Just say "Lord God Almighty" And then bow down to the carpet and grovel. Since you were once an atheist, you may not get the same mercy granted to more devout church people.

Don't worry, just call Him God. Besides, He's got a million names anyways. When I pray, I just say, "Dear Father in Heaven" or "Dear Father" or "Dear Lord" or "Father" or "God" or whatever. Shoot with as many people as there are in the world He probably gets called a kazillion things anyways. But yeah, He's a Him. :D

I have a hard time believing than an real Atheist would digress back to religion. You cannot "un-ring" the bell, so to speak.

why would you want to address him or her if there is no him or her in your world anyway? if you really want to try though i would think a reasonable way to address him or her would be on a friend-to-friend basis, because that's what the higher power is supposed to be right? we should be equals.

Good, someone being atheist, then turning theist is horrifying.

There's a lot of God's out there and most of them will give you their name and attributes. They aren't all hiding their name and methods. That's the Christian God's thing.

When you pray, pray either to Jesus or to his half-cousin Bob.

Don't feel self-conscious. And you don't have to be formal.
