i think it's a really positive step, they have put months of planning into it, gained support from local businesses and the street lights will still be on, so no need to panic. just think if only 1 in 10 people start to think about their footprint, it's a step in the right direction and sends a strong message to the fat cats in oil and other industries (and government) that a massive city like Sydney can cope. It's a brave and admirable move and I just wish the UK would make such a bold gesture rather than pandering to Bush and his cronies who want to protect their inheritance rather than the future.

It a daft idea and completely stupid. There is no evidence to suggest humans are responsible for global warming. In fact there is ample evidence to suggest it is the natural phenomenon to cause earth becoming warmer. I wouldn't call this global warming.
If this stupid idea fails to halt the so called global warming then whoever suggested this should resign immediately and people should stop worrying about global warming and start living a normal life!!.

It should be done in the US!
Light pollution is a real problem as well as the amount of energy they use.
do we really need all those lights everywhere? As for people saying they are there for safety.....it's the wrong way of tackling the problem!

I'm in favor of it. The less power other people use, the less energy is consumed, and the lower the price of gasoline will be for *me*.
