About 5000 years ago, someone said "Man, know Thyself'.

A few thousand years later Socrates repeated it, approximately 900 years later, Jesus said the same thing. Then St. Paul wrote about it, in on of his many letters to the Corinthinthians, comparing it to Life & Death, how life starts & departs, in all living things, basically his interpretation of it.

What does that mean to you, today?

Obviously, it has nothing to do with : your name, education, color of your skin, where you live or how much money you have, etc. And yet this 'Self', as Jesus described it, like the kingdom of heaven, a spirit, 'its closer than a brother / heatbeat away'.

Religion, for the past 1800 years has chosen to call it 'the soul', and that it must be 'saved', before it can enter heaven.

Some schools of thought - Psychology, especially, believe its maternal, and they claim to be able to trace its origins to your parents, or whomever you grew up with.

Its Interesting to note that 'IT' was our closest friend & ally, up until we were, 5 or 6 years old, before we stopped listening to it.

Further, since we cannot intellectually, source it, or even hope to find it with out 5 physical sense, limited as they are. It appears that if you ask yourself the same question for approximately a few hundred times, depending on your dedication, etc., it will start to respond.

How would you go about researching something as important as this?

So, the question is, ' Who am I'?

I am who I have been. But I'm not the person I will be.

I agree, mostly. Their is no Original Sin. That's a part of the Hebrew mythological culture and not a universal truth of the condition of the human spirit. There is no need to have a Savior. We must each save ourselves from the animal instincts within us and seek instead to behave like the sentient animals we are and not the unaware beasts who we came from. I would say this happened much more than just 5000 years ago, more like 1 million years ago. For the past 1800 years, most religions have NOT required a Savior, only the minority with an agenda to promote and seats to sell. The human spirit is universal. Every culture, tribe, and bloodline on the globe has an expression about it and how we relate to It and the world around us (which is just another aspect of It). People do need to correct themselves and behave like civilized, sentient beings, but we do not require an executed rabbi to do so. That is a cult. Every expression of the human spirit is true, none are false, and the statement that there is only One True Faith is just too extreme to be true. It is an extreme idea from the Middle East, a place well known for extremism and fanaticism. Why not celebrate that man, the world over, recognizes the human spirit and seeks to act responsibly for it rather than agonize that they haven't joined your particular cultish view of it?

Very, very good question. So few ask themselves this because they were taught who they were beginning at childhood by unworthy teachers. Even though talked of in the bible so many profess to know, few know it. I am the truth, I am the life, I am the way, or I am that I am. This is who I am, I wonder how many truly understand?
