I can only answer the second part of your question. It's insulting to think that man is just like all the other animals because it is too easily used as an excuse not to take responsibility in one's own life. A Human Being has the ability to judge and weigh the consequences of his/her own actions combining intellect, knowledge, reason, and wisdom. They have the ability to develope self-discipline and cognitive reasoning. etc. etc. etc. They are intellectually superior to the other animals in the animal kingdom. Which is why they can be held responsible for their actions - and be held accountable for their behaviours.

That's just silly.

What could be less arrogant than not believing in God?

Just look around here - the believers are the source of essentially ALL of the arrogance here. They claim that their feelings establish absolute truth, they claim that what they argue for is the "word of God", and they insult people constantly.

It is arrogant because you have a soul that will live into eternity and has a higher authority, but it is not insulting. Man is an unique animal with a soul.

Pretty simple actually. We are the highest form of animal life on the planet. The only thing that seperates us from the lower forms of life is WE HAVE THE POWER TO REASON AND KILL JUST FOR THE"SPORT" OF IT NOT AS A SOURCE OF SUSTINENCE.As to arrogance I personally see none here !!! Either you accept a PRIME MOVER or you don't !! So where does the arrogance come into play ??

It's not arrogant to not believe in any god(s). And it is not insulting to think of homo sapiens sapiens as just another animal, or mammal (to be more specific).

I think it is more arrogant to consider humans as something more than an animal.

I am honored to be an animal along with the brave wolves, the eagles, and the dolpins. It is no insult to me. I think anyone insulted by it looks at animals as lesser than us, and as such they are all speciesists.

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!

Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!

Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?

My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:

Do you know how to play safe?
Non-believer's case:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...

Believer's case:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...

Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?

why is it arrogant to believe in god and try and force it on the rest of the planet

That sounds humble to me. Believing an all-powerful being created the world for us to do with as we please sounds more arrogent. It depends on where your perceptions lay.
