I need to get a few questions answered about recycling.

Which object that is recycled do you think is the most helpful to the environment?

What do you think are the best ways to recycle energy?

How many times do you think you can recycle the same item?

Do you think there are any disadvantages of recycling?

Do you think there should be a fine for not recycling?

cardboard seems to be the most popular recycling product. It can be recycled many times. Metals are your top paying recylcing product. plastic come in 2nd and I think are the most helpful to the envoriment. the prices on plastic vs paper goes back and forth. i have prevee to this info as my husband is in charge of the landfill. I can't think of any disavantages. But there is a fine for not recycling, As it is added in to your per bag fee if you pay that way. Or into your taxes. One way or another you pay. .

Batteries. Thelead released from batteries not recycled is just plain nasty for the environment. Garbage and tires can be turned into biofluel by new processes. This would reduce our lanfills tremendously. Al cans can be recycled an infininte number of times. Recycling sometimes introduces things back into the environment that are harmful. (the ballasts from old fluorescents contain PCBS) Recycling the ballasts to get the copper may release the PCBS. ) Don't forget that the reason for recycling is there is some industry that will take your recyclables and is local. Some areas do not have these industries and the cost of fuel to move the recyclables is prohibative. These areas do not recycle and should not be fined. All dumps will be mined in the future to get useful materials. The better dumps will have these separated and waiting for the future.

I don't think you can recycle energy, energy is lost at any point you use it, usually through heat, or light, the circuits aren't perfect so they allow loss.

Anyhow, you can recycle cans indefinitely appearantly. The best thing to recycle is plastic bags and plastics generally as they create poison byproducts as they decompose.

The only disadvantage of recycling is paper recycling appearantly uses a fair bit of energy, and paper companies put effort into regrowing forests that they cut down to make the paper, so there's the theory that not as many trees get planted because of recycling, and that it costs more energy-wise to recycle paper. But most things use at least some recycled paper in them, so I think it's still good.

As for a fine for not recycling, no there shouldn't be. But there should be incentives to recycle, like maybe a landfill deferring credit. Or just even be seen as a regular part of life.

Appearantly the last time that the planet and nature was as important as it was today was in the 80s with the worry over overfilling the landfills, which led to the mass recycling that we do now. Yay.
