the most amazing experience of ur life. you go through the happiest, and most stressful moments you will ever have to experience, but there is nothing more rewarding than when your child holds you and says i love you.

It is amazing, exhausting, hilarious, and priceless. Children can teach you a lot more than you would ever imagine possible. Who thought they'd be learning from a 2 year old? It's hard work, definitely. The organization alone is enough to tap your energy reserves some days. But it's also the most rewarding work you'll ever do. The hilarity comes when they learn (kinda) to talk and be a little more independent. Then you find yourself actually having to yell things like "Don't run with your eyes closed!!" while they careen down the sidewalk.

You give up a lot to be a parent, but it's all worth it Every minute is worth it (well, maybe not the one where they learn their first swear word)

Wow, I just read everyone's answers and it was really cool to see everyone agreeing on this.
I am 20 and a student; and I want to have children when I graduate from my Phd(so in about 5 years!), and it is exactly the way I imagine being a parent. I think my anxiety lies in the fact that I hope I'll be able to be as good as my parents were to me...and it's not going to be easy to do as great!

I have a part time job with kids, and they're so funny and also so irritating sometimes, but they're so wee and so cute that even if I have to be serious with them, deep down in my heart I think they're so cute and I forgive everything...

Being a parent is different for everyone, but most people feel so overwhelmed by becoming a parent it is hard to explain unless you are a parent. Everyday basis it can be hard work, but on a whole it is very worth it, when you hear your child talk for the first time and walk for the first time. Its great!

Many say "hard work". Here's why its so hard.
You have to give up almost everything you are used to doing for yourself. You don't have time for just YOU anymore. If you are used to taking long showers, sleeping in, vegging out on the sofa with your hubby on the weekends, that will not happen much anymore! When your baby needs you, you must stop everything and give her what she needs. Your schedule revolves your baby's schedule. If you need to be somewhere at 2pm, you start getting ready the moment you wake in the morning. When you go shopping, its not a leisurely walk through the store. You rush and have a list because you only have a short window to get everything done before your baby/kids get fussy. Same with restaurants...a ticking clock to enjoy your meal before things get crazy.

Of course, when your baby smiles at you or says "mama" for the first time, you forget about all the stuff that drives you nuts! Its a hard job, but the rewards are plentiful.

In short, it is the best job I have ever had.
Ask yourself if you are ready to put everything you want on hold for 18+ years.
Ask yourself if you can give all you have and expect nothing in return.
Ask yourself if you can and will pay for things you don't need or want but your child does need or want.
A child is a gift we get that should be cherished and it is up to the parent to put that child ahead of all else.

I am the father of two,,all grown up now. ( I called myself an unwed father) It was work, but, the love was well worth the effort, and expence. To some others, children might be considered a burden. I hope the love always out weighs the frustrations, and burdens. Children are a part of us, and so, a part of us lives on, as we dwindle away..it is part of the evolution of life.

It's the best thing ever.
I feel so lucky - I have a son and a daughter.
I know that nothing else could make me
happier than being a parent and feeling
needed.

If you have a sense of humour and don't sweat the small stuff it's the best, most amazing thing in the world to be. And it zips by so fast...so you have to try and enjoy every crazy second of it.
I love being a mother. :]

The most tiring (mentally as well as physically), frustrating, worrying job it the world - my two and a half year old is currently the teenager from hell!

That said, it is also the most wonderful & rewarding job ever, and I wouldn't swap my boy for anything!
