my mom and dad are arguing about what color to paint the cabinets in our kitchen?

they used to be really dark wooden cabinets, and it made the kitchen seem really dark, and small, BUT THAT'S THE WAY MY DAD LIKES IT! and i hate it! we painted them white, and when the sun shines in, it's so bright and cheerful..my dad said "look at other people's kitchen and see what color they paint THEIR cabinets!" so i need opinions please!!!

Last year my husband and I argued over what color to paint our bathroom. Finally we went to Wal-mart and chose 3 colors a piece. We took all the samples home a discussed them. We used process of elimination until we finally agreed to a color. Suggest to your parents that they go to Home Depot, Lowes, or Wal-mart and look at all the different color paints they have. Suggest they take a few home and ponder over them in the kitchen until they can reach an agreement.

Well, most all men do like dark woods. It gives a much more masculine feeling that appeals to their sensibilities. If you just want to paint over what you have, you need to choose a neutral color that appeals to both male and female, such as Full Sun (see the link), Ferncliffe, Washed Khaki, etc. Or, choose a color that complements the other colors in the kitchen that also appeals to both male and female. Also, Chocolate Brown is a very popular color right now and is a color that almost assuredly a male would like and yet it's still stylish enough to appeal to a woman's taste. Add some blue and/or green accents and accessories and you would have a very stylish kitchen. But, you need to remind them that neither of them will completely get what they want and compromise is the only solution. Good luck!

It all depends on what color they have on the walls.Tell them to get a sample color that the walls have and bring it to Home Depot and they have a computer program that will tell ya'll what colors go good with it.
