"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.

Both Christian, though some Baptists think that Catholics are more Pagan. Baptists believe that all truth resided in the Bible, while Catholics believe that the Bible must be read with insight and must be understood in a historical context, and that the history of the church has been inspired by God as well. They believe that God intended there to be one particular leader of the Church on Earth, and that that model began with Peter.

In any case, Baptists are a protestant faith, and protestantism began when Luther separated from the Catholic Church in the 1400's. (If my recollection of history serves me well)

The Baptist came out of the Roman Catholic church system, eventually forming a number of sects, all of which refuse the claims the Roman Catholic church have as to 'being appointed by Jesus' and almost everything else doctrine wise.

Baptists believe in a one on one relationship with God through Christ, and the Catholics feel the need of priests and saints and things. This could take weeks...

I'm an Independent, Fundamental Baptist and we believe that the Bible is the literal word of God, that we can talk to God thru Jesus, we don't need a priest to hear our confessions, as he can't forgive us, only God can. We believe in not compromising the Bible doctrine; that we are to be separate from this word, no secular music or movies. We don't drink or smoke.

We also believe we are saved by grace, not of our good works. Being a great person is good, but it won't get you into Heaven. You're not going to loose your salvation. The husband is the head of the home as Christ is the head of the church, as wives, we are to be submissive and help meets.

I really don't know much about the Catholic faith, only that they are fellow Christians. I don't agree w/their doctrine on salvation or how they view Mary, but that is their choice and we all want to go to the same place, Heaven.

Catholics go to confession and have a priest absolve them of their sins, they pray to the vifgin mary, they say the rosary, they conduct mass, they are read the last rites prior to dying so that they can enter into heaven. Baptists pray directly to God through Christ for their sins, They have a preacher that preaches, and they attend Sunday School.

Baptists believe in spontaneous salvation. They have better ideas than Jesus.

Catholics are jealous they didn't come up with the idea first.

Catholics believe in a system of structure and clergy.

Baptists believe in soul freedom or in otherwise that your relationship is just between you and God and need no structure.

______________________________

I do not believe in the Catholic religion BUT there system almost is like that of the premitive church set up by Christ with prophets, apostles and so forth. But the holy ghost does not back up there religion.

---------------------------------------------------------

Baptists are off because they believe in no structure and the church of Christ had structure and held the Holy Melchezidic and Aronic priesthood which is spoken in the bible.

There is only one true church that is set up like the one of old and the spirit of the lord will confirm it to who ever will take the challenge and have the faith to try it.

It is a promise in the book of Mormon that if you read it and ask God in the name of christ if it is true he will manifest it to you.

You cannot beat that deal.

Good luck
