I have a 1992 Nissan Sentra which is a very faithful automobile. Today Something went awry. I was driving along a country highway and my car kept slowing down and I had to keep giving it more gas to keep up the speed. It felt like when my vacuum cleaner is roaring way but isnt picking up a darn thing. Know what I mean? What is the problem?

Could be your fuel filter. If the car runs ok after stopping for a bit then starts slowing down then junk is blocking the fuel line into the carburator or fuel injectors. Always keep gas tank at !/4 of a tank not empty before fueling car. It keeps junk from
getting in fuel lines. If that not the problem more likely the fuel pump. Do a search: 1992 nissan sentra fuel pump problems.
on google. There is several people with same problems and some diagrams in replacing it .

Fuel Filter may be a likely cause. Question- when you turn off your car and let it sit for a while and then restart it do you have the problem immediately again. Fuel Filters are easy to fix. I'm not sure where it is in you Nissan, you'll have to use a search engine and type "Nissan Sentra Fuel Filter" something will come up telling you where it is located and how to ge to it. Any auto parts store can sell you the part. (Usually under $20)

Does your car have a cable or electric accelerator system. If electric then there may be a problem with the potentiometer or the computer. If a cable system then the problem may be with the injection system.
