when peanut butter expires, does it hurt you in anyway?

i would be scared to eat any peanut butter after that salmonella scare!

It would probably not kill you, but it will definitely taste bad and could make you sick. That's why many people store opened peanut butter in the refrigerator--to keep the oil from going rancid. I would definitely not take the risk of getting sick by eating expired peanut butter. It might do nothing, but it just isn't worth the risk.

The oil present in peanut butter could turn rancid and make you sick.

yes it can if the oil has turned rancid...it could make you sick...even if it is not past the date, check for smell, and if it smells all right and not "off"...well, there you go!

I didn't know there was an expirary date on pb,,I would'nt think it would hurt,,check by smell
