NO. He was a complete fictional character. The only person to ever come from Formula 1 to NASCAR is Juan Pablo Montoya, and he just came in this year.
If anything, it was a dig at the ever-rude French and their opinions of Americans

If there's anyone to compare Jean Girard to, it'd have to be Juan Pablo Montoya based on the F1 background. Though I think Montoya would have to take arrogance lessons from Girard for sure...if I had to put up with him, I'd give him one right in the pie hole.

I don't think so. I think Jeff Gordon just likes to complain, and he probably wanted an obvious likeness to him in the movie and he didn't get it.
