I see women on make-over shows and on America's Next Top Model with long hair getting their hair cut and they actually cry during it and some get depressed for a few days. Why? it's only hair. It will grow back if you want long hair again. Some even cry when only 2 inches are cut versus 7 inches with others. Hair styles change every decade and as we grow up and mature. With short hair you can try different styles that you can't with longer hair. Change is good once in a while. And again, it's just hair. Have any of you cried and gotten depressed after a hair cut and why? Thanks for sharing.

Hair to some women represent youth and high beauty. We see models and celebs with beautiful luscious hair...can't get it in there head that they have stylists and high paid people to make them look that way. If I had a stylist everyday I would look great too.
I just cut off about 8 inches off my hair yesterday...can I tell you that its the best thing I have done all year. I love it!!
Hollywood can keep there high priced everything.
HA!~

Well miss, I used to have my hair down to my waist. I loved my hair, my hair brough memories. My grandparents always hade extremely long hair, since my grandma is a hippie. I don't know why those little models cry, I guess they think they would look "uglier". Once I cut my hair, I cried and cried and cried. Then I ate some peanuts and I felt better :) But hair can be such a sacred thing to a person, it comes with a lot of emotions and memories. I'm trying to grow my hair back, I cut it over a year ago and it's barely passed my shoulders right now. I'm never cutting my hair, I don't even know why I cut it in the first place. I was probably buzzed or some crap. SHE WANTS YOU!

I have a rather dysfunctional relationship with my hair. I love it. I hate it. I want to cut it all off. I am fiercely protective of it. It binds me. It shields me. It defines me. I keep wondering: if long hair is so feminine, why is it that none of the women I know with very long hair are terribly feminin? I think the urge to hack off my hair comes from an unhealthy desire to change something very basic about myself that I resent. Then there are the people who look at me with nostalgia in their eyes and say “I used to have hair like that, but I let it grow.” Spoken or unspoken in these conversations always seems to be “Don’t cut it again. You’ll regret it.” You'll be like the rest of us if you let it grow, but the funny thing is that this is what prevents me from leaving it grow.

When you go from long hair to short hair it really is a shock. Although it will grow back it can drastically change your appearance. If youre not used to the look, especially if a bunch of strangers make the decision for you, it can be rough.

I think it depends on how fast their hair grows. I know some women who's hair grows like 2 inches in 2-3years. My hair grows really quick, so it doesn't bother me at all when I cut it. My hair was down to my waist last year, and in June I chopped it all off. I think my friends were more upset than I was....I'm more "Who cares! In 1 - 1/2 years time it'll be down to my waist again".

Because for some of us our hair is part of our identity, it's one thing we can control about our bodies. That's why most women like having their hair, nails, or feet tended to, it's a way of pampering ourselves and a way that makes us feel good. When we cry because we don't like the way it looks that's because some of us feel that we will get judged by the way our hair looks and because we have a certain idea of how we want it to look and when it doesn't it can be overwhelming. Body image is important to alot of us. I have met many men who had the same hang up about their hair. Wondering if it's cut right, are they going to go bald, or do they have grey. Body image affects all of us because of how we want to be perceived by others. And because we can control over certain things like doing hair while other things like age and sometimes weight are out of our control.

That's because some women feel the need to style their hair different to feel beautiful..just look at Jaeda for season 7 that she use to compare herself with models from magazines that had long hair

I prefer hair that will is shoulder length or longer, And also since that men who like ladies are more often then not straight, they like long hair because this looks more feminine, as most guys have short hair.

Well for some women, their hair is their glory. Short Hair at one time was considered a sign of slavery.

It can also something to do with societies view on short hair, plus not everyone can rock short hair

when someone has long hair and then they get it cut shorter, when they see themselves they look alot different to themselves so they decide they dont like it then a few days later once they`ve gotten used to it they become fond of it( somtimes other times they still hate it) personally i wouldnt be able to cut mine short but your right, hair does grow back!
