ok, so this guy i like asked my friend olivia out. she liked him too, or so she said. so they started "going out" on thursday. now she tells me that she is going to break up with him on monday. when i asked her why she said that she doesnt really want a boyfriend and that she thinks that the two of us (me and the guy) would look cuter together.
the guy, olivia and i are good friends. she knew that i liked him when he asked her out and things have been awakard. my other friend told the guy that i like him and he said that as long as olivia still liked him he didnt really care. since she is breaking up with him i dont know what to do. he will probably ask me out, but how can i avoid being a rebound relationship?

Do You really want to be "Sloppy Seconds"? If he does ask you out, you know that it will only be because he is either gonna try to make her jealous, he will treat you badly because he is scorned from being dumped, or because he has no distinguished taste! ( meaning he will date anything that will date him)
If she knew that you liked him, why did she date him?
I bet if you go out with him, you probably won't like him as much anymore . You will be wondering if he's comparing you two. And she will always be the one that "had him 1st".
REMEMBER: Men want what they can't have, so make yourself unavailable to him. Better yet, surprise both of them , the next time yall hang out, show up with a new guy friend that neither of them knew about! Make sure he is HOTT and then later when Hott boy is not around, play it off like "naaa, I'm not interested in him"
Trust me , it works!!!!

This is not a rebound relationship, his intent all along was to go out with you. I have done this many times. I have asked the friend of a girlfriend out, just to get to know a little bit about her more, once i learn enough, usually the friend talks badly of her girlfriend, I know she is worth pursuing.

You probably shouldn't go out with the guy if he didn't want anything to do so long as your friend was with him. It just means that he isn't genuine and the relationship wouldn't be either. If you still want to be in a relationship with him, wait a month or so first. Make sure both your feelings are genuine first.

I think it really depends on how much you like this guy. If you dont really like him that much then i wouldnt do it because it could make things very awkward and ruin your friendship. If you do really like him then you will be willing to deal with the fact that your friendship with olivia may become awkward or end

Don't go out with him just yet. If you like him keep in touch and talk to him about her. When he finally gets over her (which may be quite awhile) he'll express to u haw he feels about the you and not her

Let him hang there for awhile then show a little interest. Any chance you go to North Lamar?

Easy. If he does ask you out, say no. A relationship is not about "looking cute together."
