I am looking to move into the Park slope area of NY. Nothing against gay people...but I am straight and single and have heard that this area has a very large gay population...would this be a bad move for me?

Park Slope has a large lesbian population. I'm not sure about gay men, but I know there is more than an abundance of gay women. Regardless, Park Slope is a great neighborhood. Those three-story brownstones, and the stores on Seventh Avenue are simply Brooklyn at its best. That neighborhood, along with Red Hook, has gotten expensive to live in the last 10 years. It went from a working class neighborhood to a young urban professional neighborhood. Still, however, a great place to live.

Your kidding, right? Do you think gay is contaigous or something? NYC on a whole has a large gay population and some of the nicest areas of the city are "infested" with them. Park Slope is a very nice area where lots of people of all walks of life live. Gay, straight, families etc. I can tell you, if gay people annoy you, Park Slope isn't for you. Its a very tolerant, liberal area, like most of NYC. You may catch the "gay" if you move there!

wow! well there are a lot on straight people there too. it's not like there are male prostitutes on every corner. it's a really nice neighborhood. why would it even bother you anyway? it's not like you can't get hit on by gay men anywhere in NYC. it's not like you're moving to the Village. if such a small number of gays bother you enough to consider not moving there, maybe you need to explore whey it bothers you so much.

there are also lots of 23 year old hetero hipsters in park slope. if you're looking for a pool of women to hit on, you will find them in park slope, but bear in mind that almost all will be educated, assertive "professionals" and/or writers.

Yes, it would be a VERY bad move for you! It would bring down the reputation of the neighborhood and the entire city to have a jerk like you move there.

Not a bad move at all. Don't worry about being straight. The majority of the people that there are families, meaning men and women and their children. However, it is an expensive neighborhood so come prepared.
