I have not tried that specific heat spray. However, I have seen in the shops many products that salon experts say will be safe to flat iron hair with. Multiple hairdressers have told me that flat irons are better for hair than blow driers (I find that hard to believe but maybe it's true). They just recommend that you use ceramic or Tourmaline irons if possible. One hairdresser even told me that the expensive Tourmaline wet-to-dry irons don't damage hair at all.

Anyhow, what I do know is that if you're using a flat iron you NEED to use some heat protection sprays or serums as otherwise it will damage hair badly. Everytime you use a hair iron you should be using it with a lotion or spray on your hair to protect it, otherwise your just burning it!

One that you may be interested in is Biosilk (it works a treat on my hair and smells fantastic). I've also used Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum and it is a wonderful product too and smells yummy (kind of like strawberries)!

I know you said your hair looks horrible but I'm not sure if you just mean unruly and wavy or frizzy, dried and split? If it's frizzy, wavy, etc you might be interested in the Redken Smooth Down line, which is supposed to make hair up to 4x's smoother. I've tried the conditioner and do like it. The other day a hairdresser recommended that I try the Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide, so I'm going to buy that this week. Here is the description of it: http://www.redken.com/products/displayProduct.cfm?p=626

However, if you do not want to go for the professional products the store brands should be OK as well. I have heard Suave, Tresemme, and Brilliant Brunette products are all fine. Also, I was told that even Pantene Pro-V wouldn’t do the sorts of damage to hair that people say it does (I don't know what to believe when it comes to that anymore). Another place you can get good products without spending too much is Sally Beauty Supply. They carry a line called Slickline that comes in orange bottles and they carry many other brands that offer heat protection lotion, such as Ion (specifically made for use with irons).

Hope this helps!

Well you can get a spray/gel heat protectant anywhere.
