There are papers that you need to fill out that basically state that you are an adult and that the school should no longer notify your parents of your progress. I believe that your parents may have to sign off, but I am not positive.

I had 1 student do this. He moved out of his parents house and we got a notification that we were no longer able to notify his parents about his behavior, grades, etc.

Check with the secretary in your guidance office and ask about this form. If she cannot help you then ask to see your counselor.

If your mom has legal custody then of course they will have to work with her. If your dad also has custody then they may be able to talk to him as well. If you move out of your mom's home and as you said you are 18, then there may be no problem with this paper signed.
