Blacks cannot choose to "come out of the closet."
Blacks have a history, heritage, and culture.
Blacks value families.
Blacks have children.
Blacks were kidnapped. (from Africa)
Blacks were slaves. (without human rights or freedom)
Blacks were targeted and killed by organized crime. (KKK)
Blacks were denied suffrage.
Blacks were segregated and forced to the back or to stand. (restrooms, water fountains, buses)
Homosexuals fail each of these points and are no more "new blacks" than any other unpopular group. African Americans should be highly offended and insulted by such an attempt to draw a link from a lifestyle of out-of-control hormones to at least a century of racial oppression.

No, I don't agree at all. Gay people will never know what it means to be Black in the U.S.
Everyday, Black people are still being discriminated in this so called America where all men are created equal.
Gay people come close to knowing what it feels like to be Black, but a white gay man can walk into a KKK meeting and not be killed simply because nobody will know that he is gay.
Being Black is obvious and I know many white people still dislike Black people. Just go to the culture section. The last time I was there, there was so many racist questions about Black people that I had to leave.

I'm a supporter of gay rights but the blacks had it alotttt worse. The only thing gays cant do is get married and openly join the military. Briar rose youre full of it blacks are barely discriminated against in this day and age. Gays are the second most hated and mistrusted group in America besides atheists done in various surveys.

I think that yes homosexuals and blacks are discriminated against, but the claim that they are the "new blacks" is ridiculous. You make a choice when you select whom you have sex with. I could make the choice to have sex with an animal does that mean that I was born attracted to animals. All sexual acts are choices in my book. The color of ones skin and their genetic make-up is not a choice.
The suffering of blacks in America is nothing compared to people not liking gays. When was the last time a gay man was lynched, inslaved, imprisoned, hosed on, multilated, rape, and etc. due to his/her sexual orientation? A few weathy elite gays want to claim that they are the new blacks? Please give me a break!
Discrimantion on all forms is wrong. Rather your're black or gay no one should suffer discrimination. Just don't confuse the suffering of blacks as being the same thing as being gay. In that case women, Muslims, Atheists, Latinos, and any other group of people that are demoralized and discriminated against in this country are the "new blacks".
Hate is wrong no matter what shape, color, or form it comes in!

There are definite similarities in the way some churches spoke about racial issues 40 years ago and the way they now speak about gay issues. For example, I can recall tirades against interracial marriage that are strikingly similar to current diatribes about gay marriage.
I guess some people just need another group to hate.

Yes they are being hated in a similar way. At a time racists hated blacks, the number of racists have decreased a lot. Most bible-readers hate gays. Soon they will decrease. I support both gays and blacks.

Gays are the result of a decision.
It is the gay community which would like to convince everyone they are born that way, Unfortunately, they can not see the line of reasoning they are presenting to it's logical conclusion. That being, if gays are born that way and should be accepted, then who is to say that pedophiles aren't born that way and should be accepted. And on we go with murderers robbers, and theives, and adulterers. I, for one will never be fooled by the claim that BEHAVIOR is something we are born with. It is always something we decide.
