50 bucks for a bike at Walmart is reasonable price for people who have a tight budget..Remember, you get what you pay. The $50 bike is simply a junk bike afterward, the bike will makes you more headache and spend more $ for repair ( which you don't really want to, right? ). Try to put aside some more and think about the 200 - 400 dollars bike range. Godd luck !

do not buy a cheap bike, and if you do, not at walmart... trust me, it costs more than 50 to get it fixed ,and walmart bikes will cost you more in the ong run...id reccomend a GT mountain (what i have) in either a $200-$400 model....in the long run it works out better....try the chucker 2.0

A $50 cheap bike is fine, if/when you get tired of it but love riding, you will be in better shape and a lot more knowledgable to buy something more. The $50 is a bargain.

On one hand, you get what you pay for but on the other hand, if you spend a fortune on it, it's still just a bicycle. But you're right, Walmart bikes are junk. Buy a Trek.
