I think it is because society ie friends family ext. pressure us into believing that we are not complete without someone in our life. but think about it we on average live to be what around 80 and if we start dating at say 15 thats one hell of a long time to be with someone.
there should be no insecurity about being alone hell it should be the best time of your life, finding yourself and who and what you want in your life. its a time to experiment and make the most out of life before you are weighed down with relationships and children.

I think it is only people who are older, like in their 40's or 50's and have been married. I don't think people younger than that really feel insecure because they are single and having a good time doing anything they want. Some 40's and 50's singles aren't inhibited at all and are enjoying their freedom.

Cause they may feel as though there is something wrong with them and that being the reason they are single. Which is kinda of a viscious circle cause once your insecure or got low self esteem no girl wants to know about you, cause the confidence isn't there and it just gets worse for the poor guys

some of them are often insecure because they want to look good and have every opportunity to meet the right guy or girl. however, not everyone who's single is insecure, because they are proud to be single and don't want to or not ready for a relationship yet.

Hey, I've outlived two husbands, I'm single now and I feel TERRIFIC...smart, savvy, confident and well-adjusted. Why do others feel insecure? Hmmm...maybe they have bought into the myth that everyone needs a partner to be complete, or that if you are alone, something is wrong with you. Nonsense! Be yourself!

I just became single yesterday =(
I don't feel insecure because he admitted that he sucked at being a boyfriend and how good of a girlfriend I was.
I'm 14, i'm not gonna date until i feel that I am ready. Yeah, it feels a little weird not being his girlfriend anymore, but now it's not like i lost him, he's now my closest friend =)

Not all people feel that way. I don't. Some single people feel they are missing something that they feel strongly about wanting. I can understand that, but is not a feeling I share.

Because then it feels like everyone has somebody and u r being left alone.It feels like u dont have a shoulder to cry on when u need someone and everyone u know is busy with this or that...a person always needs another one to compliment, praise, judge and justify him/her.Holding a hand that loves u makes a person feels complete...
