never had a steady boyfriend.
i wasn't bothered by it before but junior year's almost over and it's starting to get to me. i see couples in school all the time and it seems like i'm the only one missing out.
i'm just wondering - is this normal or completely bizarre? what should i do to change it?

btw, not to be conceited but appearance-wise:
been told i'm pretty by a lot of people, 5' 8", 138lb, not a flatboard but no Pamela Anderson - somewhere in between, and long, dark, naturally straight hair, like to dress preppy - usually shop american eagle, hollister, forever21.

personality-wise: shy initially, but will loosen up to friends. like to laugh.

any advice greatly appreciated :]

to Rio Madeira:
umm sorry to offend you but i'm sure there are other feminists out there who believe men are all male chauvinist pigs.
i, however, am not one of them (at the moment) and would like to continue to search deeper into this particular issue. kthanks :]

There is nothing wrong with you or your situation. You probably have high standards (which is great and you should not change this) when it comes to choosing a boyfriend. I did not have a boyfriend until I was 21. We were great friends for about 2 years and we finally got together. We have been together for 11 months now and everything is going great. You will find a great guy when you least expect it. Stop trying so hard and it will happen. For now, enjoy the single life.

Not strange at all! I'm seventeen too. I'm single, good-looking. I also went through your faze too. This year i just didn't care about guys, cause I've always wanted a boyfriend for the previous 4 years. Now that I don't think about it, I've got many guys seeking my attention.

Point is, guys can tell when you are desperate, so they won't approach. When you not in need of having a boyfriend, many guys will want to be with you.

No, its not bizzarre, believe me. From your own personal description, I'm sure you're pretty and model-like. So I'm sure guys are interested in you. When the right guy comes along, you'll get into a relationship. Just because you're not in one now doesn't mean that you need to be in one. I was at your stage once where I was trying to get a boyfriend just cuz my friends all had one... but you shouldn't push it because you might find you rushed it and you're just not ready.
Besides, I'm in university and I've never dated, nor many of my gal friends. Not for anything but just because I'm not interested in it - yet anyways. And no, its not because I've never been asked out lol. I've been asked out often enough.

I know exactly how you feel, I'm also seventeen..There is nothing wrong with it, u find the right person usually when you're not looking...Don't stress it..Good guys are hard to find, it takes some time to find that speacil someone...Whatever you do, never be desperate for a boyfriend, and try to always be content with yourself being single.

its not totally unusual to be 17 and not have a bf. it will happen when it happens and you should enjoy life single or not. when you are more confident within yourself and get over your shyness you will see. Sometimes shyness stands in the way of finding someone so work on it.

You know what's really strange? The fact that people my age (I'm also 17) feel like couplehood is necessary! Why am I the only one who seems to be content with her independence?
